On Saturday, Sept. 21, head to Category 12 Brewing for an Oktoberfest celebration.
The beer-heavy event, which traditionally runs from mid-September to the first Sunday in October in Germany, originated in Munich in 1810. Smaller events, like this one, have since sprouted world-wide, attracting lovers of Bavarian cuisine and German brews.
This year, the 10-year-old Saanichton brewery will pour German-inspired lager, pilsner and ale, while serving hot pretzels, beer-poached bratwurst, German-style potato salad and Black Forest ice cream.
Category 12's parking lot parking lot, which faces onto Keating Cross Road, will be converted into a beer-drinker's paradise, with tents that resemble those found at traditional Oktoberfest celebrations.
