The provincial Health Officer, BC Centre for Disease Control, and public health officials are reminding B.C. residents to check their family’s immunization records before travelling.

The issued advisory comes after two cases of measles were reported within the province earlier this week. The initial case, mentioned in a public service announcement on Feb. 15, was acquired by a Fraser Health resident who travelled to Southeast Asia.

Members of the public may have been exposed to measles if they were on Air Canada Flight 66, arriving in Vancouver on Feb. 11.

Measles is a highly infectious disease transmitted by airborne spread. Most people in Canada will be immune to measles due to prior immunization or natural infection.
