Those hoping to escape today’s heat with a quick, cool plunge into the ocean at Willows Beach have been advised to head elsewhere.
On the morning of Aug. 11, Island Health issued a beach advisory for unsatisfactory bacteriological water-test results at the popular summer spot.
These tests showed Enterococci levels – a bacteriological indicator of fecal contamination – have been high at the Oak Bay beach since Aug. 6.
“High levels of bacteria in the water ... may pose a risk to health,” the district said on its website. “The area is unsafe for swimming and other water contact activities until further notice.”
