Langford's Tom Moffat will be once again bringing home the world title after winning the 2025 World Horseshoe Pitching Championships.

Greater Victoria's megastar horseshoe pitcher, Tom Moffat, will be keeping his title as world champion after a nail-biting playoff at the 2025 World Horseshoe Pitching Championships in Sandy, Utah in late July.

"It feels good. It was a lot of hard work this year. It was a really strong competition," said Moffat, who competed in the elders division. "I lost my very first game in the championship and I had to really battle the whole way to get into that playoff."

Losing only two games out of 16 in the championships, he tied with Wisconsin's Jeff Gustafson – putting them both in a tie-breaking playoff where Moffat took the top spot with a final score of 655 points and a ringer percentage of 73.43.

Joining Moffat was another Greater Victoria pitcher Bob McCauley, and Alberta's Dave Burrows, the only three Canadians competing in the division this year who finished at 10th and 16th respectively.

Starting in mid-August, he and a few other local competitors will be making their way to St-Joseph-de-Sorel, Que. for 2025 Canadian Horseshoe Pitching Championships, with the B.C. Championships coming to Abbotsford on Labour Day weekend.
