A man was arrested Tuesday (Feb. 13) after brandishing a “pipe-type object” in an alleged altercation with Uptown shopping centre security, according to Saanich police.

Police responded to a report about the altercation at the Saanich mall around 12:45 p.m.

The man didn’t strike anybody during the altercation and nobody was injured, police said.

“He was located a short distance away by Saanich police patrol officers with assistance from the integrated road safety unit,” said Saanich police inspector Damian Kowalewich, referring to the arrested man.

The inspector noted that after leaving Uptown, the man had moved to the Campus Acura dealership.

Saanich police are still investigating the incident.
