A series of vehicles smeared with eggs marked the return of Halloween mischief, though police are unsure if it's related.

A resident reported her vehicle being egged the night of Jan. 23, according to the Oak Bay police weekly news release.

Parked in the 1000-block of Roslyn Road, the vehicle had also been hit at Halloween.

It is unknown if the two incidents are related, but the resident also noticed that other vehicles in the area had been targeted. No suspects have been identified.

It was among the 72 calls for service to the Oak Bay Police Department the week of Jan. 20 to 26.

In the same week, Oak Bay police were out actively reminding residents to lock their cars. A resident reported two jackets stolen from her vehicle in the 2000-block of Lincoln Road and discovered them missing on Jan. 26. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and is believed to have been left unlocked.

Officers were out in the community during the week, distributing pamphlets and engaging with residents to emphasize the importance of locking vehicle doors to deter criminal activity.

By taking simple precautions, such as locking your doors and removing valuables from sight, you can significantly reduce the risk of theft, the department said.
