A paving project has slowed traffic in downtown Victoria.
Motorists driving down Blanshard Street will face delays, as crews work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to resurface the well-used road, between Pandora Avenue and Fort Street. The work has resulted in long lines of traffic along the 800 block of Broughton as motorists are forced to avoid Fort Street.
The work was scheduled to begin Monday but was pushed back to Wednesday (April 10). The paving is expected to take four days. Once paving is complete, work on this section of Blanshard Street is expected to wrap up within six weeks. This marks the final stages of a multi-year project to refresh underground and road infrastructure
While one lane in each direction will remain open on Blanshard, all cross-streets within the work zone – including Pandora Avenue, Johnson Street, View Street, Yates Street and Fort Street — will be closed at Blanshard during construction hours on specific days.
Cyclists may encounter temporary closures of bike lanes and are asked to dismount and walk through the affected areas.
