Saanich police are investigating a man suspected of stealing an electric bike from a Saanich store.

The Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers say Saanich police are investigating a robbery that took place at an electric bike store on Royal Oak Drive.

The suspect was caught on security cameras and he is described as a Black male, 6' with a slim build. He had drywall dust on his clothes and mud on his boots. He wore a white T-shirt and grey pants and a blue tilly hat.

"The suspect in the pictures entered the store and asked to test ride a bike. He was asked for ID and when he couldn’t produce any was told he couldn’t ride one. He then distracted the store associate and grabbed ahold of one of the E-bikes and went to leave the store. The associate challenged him and blocked the door to stop him from leaving," noted a post on Facebook.

Crime Stoppers says another staff member tried to restrain him, but the suspect broke free and began pushing the associate out of the way, injuring them. To prevent further injury to staff they let the suspect flee.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or submit a tip online to www.victoriacrimestoppers.ca.
