'Screaming' man arrested in Oak Bay with axe and knife in his possession

An early morning disturbance on Cadboro Bay Road led Oak Bay police to arrest a man carrying an axe and knife, in breach of his probation.

Police responded to reports of a man screaming near the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay Road on Oct. 1 at around 2:25 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a man yelling profanities. The individual, who initially refused to provide identification, was later identified as 42-year-old Justin Eby. The man was arrested for causing a disturbance

During a search, police found an axe and a knife in Eby’s possession. Eby, who was on probation with conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons, was held for a bail hearing. 

He faces charges including causing a disturbance, two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, two counts of probation violation, and obstructing a peace officer.

Eby was released on a court order with multiple conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 17.
