Sidney serves up new flavours with Indian cuisine and frozen treats

Two exciting new culinary destinations catering to diverse palates launched in the same week

Food lovers in Sidney have two new reasons to rejoice with the arrival of Biju's Indian Cuisine, as well as Scoop and Waffle offering delectable treats for those with a sweet tooth.

Biju's Indian Cuisine: A Taste of Tradition

Biju's Indian Cuisine, specializing in flavourful and aromatic dishes, officially opened its doors on Sunday (March 9) and has already garnered rave reviews from hungry patrons.

"People are coming for my famous biryani and butter chicken," said owner Brijesh Poddar, affectionately known as Biju. "I'm getting five-star reviews since we opened and it hasn't even been a week."

While this is Biju's first independent venture in Sidney, he's no stranger to the culinary scene. He boasts a successful track record of opening six Indian restaurants across Ontario and Alberta.

He also previously worked with two other Indian restaurants in Sidney, leading him to finally pursue his own vision. "I want to provide good food and good ingredients, with all the fragrant spices in my restaurant," Poddar explained, promising an authentic and unforgettable Indian dining experience.

For those seeking the "best butter chicken on this side of the Peninsula," Biju's Indian Cuisine is quickly becoming the place to be.

Biju's at 10153 Resthaven Dr. is open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Scoop and Waffle: A Sweet Escape on Beacon Avenue

For those with a penchant for frozen delights and warm, fluffy treats, Scoop and Waffle has arrived at 2423 Beacon Ave.

Owner Amanda Coe describes the eatery as a place for "fun food."

"This is a place to come for cool and warm treats," Coe explained. "Our two biggest items on the menu are our ice cream – we serve 28 flavours that change a little bit every month – and then we have seven-inch, fluffy Belgian waffles with toppings of your choice."

In addition to ice cream and waffles, the establishment also offer specialty drinks, including organic tea, hot chocolate and even a "babyccino" – warm milk with maple syrup – for the little ones.

Coe strategically opened the doors on Wednesday (March 12) just before spring break, providing an opportunity to fine-tune operations before the grand opening scheduled for May.

Scoop and Waffle is currently operating with spring hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
