After launching a major water main replacement project on Burnside Road East between Harriet and Dupplin Roads in early January, Saanich expects the work to be completed by the end of April.
However, district staff said crews will need to return in mid-June due to a gas line relocation required by FortisBC to facilitate a hydrant replacement.
Westbound traffic remains closed along the affected stretch for the duration of the project, with drivers advised to seek alternate routes. Eastbound traffic is reduced to a single lane, and parking will be prohibited in the construction zone.
Bus routes 21 and 22 are temporarily rerouted, with a relocated stop on Whittier Avenue.
Access to businesses and residences is maintained, although brief disruptions may still occur.
