Vehicle stolen in Oak Bay found 5 days later in Nanaimo

Oak Bay police report a vehicle stolen from the 2800 block of Heron Street on Dec. 30 was located by the Nanaimo RCMP Jan. 4. The owner told police the vehicle was left unlocked with the key inside.

Police received a second report of a stolen vehicle on Jan. 4. A black Range Rover Velar was stolen from the 2100 block of Cadboro Bay Road sometime between 1:30 and 6:50 p.m. The owner told police they had lost a key to the vehicle within the last 10 days but had locked the vehicle before it was stolen.

A vehicle's window was broken on the 2400 block of Florence Street overnight on Dec. 30 and fishing gear valued at $1,000 was stolen.

Police report a vehicle struck a lamppost on the 3500 block of Beach Drive shortly before 9 p.m. Dec. 30, sustaining an estimated $15,000 worth of damage.

A witness told police that the driver had walked away from the vehicle. Unable to identify the driver, police issued violation tickets to the 48-year-old registered owner. Fines totalling $760 were issued to the owner for driving without consideration, failing to stop after an accident resulting in damage to property and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
