The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce has named Josue Dubon its Member of the Year for 2025.

Dubon moved to Greater Victoria from Winnipeg in 2019 when he helped launch DesignWealth, where he is now a partner and wealth mentor. Since then, his time in Victoria has greatly influenced his growth with the Chamber of Commerce.

“I will always have love for Winnipeg, but Victoria is home. The city’s vibrant community and supportive culture have deeply influenced me, both personally and professionally,” said Dubon.

“Being a member of the Chamber of Commerce has shown me the incredible value of collaboration and local advocacy, which has strengthened my commitment to giving back.”

The Chamber’s award recognizes an individual who has served as a volunteer, taken on active roles with the board or committees, and worked to foster relationships within the community — something Dubon was quick to share credit for. “This award stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and the passion we share for fostering a community that celebrates and reflects the diversity, talent, and vibrancy of its people,” he said.

“These values aren’t just ideals — they’re the driving forces behind the growth and resilience of our local businesses.”

Dubon’s work with the Chamber began in 2023, when he became chair of the Chamber’s new Emerge Committee. This year, he joined the Chamber’s board of directors, serving on the finance and audit committee, where he earned the admiration of his colleagues.

“Josue represents all of the qualities this award stands for and deserves to be among the many amazing people who have been named Chamber Member of the Year in the past,” said Chamber chair Kris Wirk.

“He has shown true dedication to our board and committees and brings a highly regarded perspective that helps us stay innovative, welcoming, and impactful.”

Outside the Chamber, Dubon says he can be found playing soccer, travelling, and learning — hobbies that have also informed his work with the Chamber.

“Whether it’s through soccer’s sense of teamwork, the global perspectives I’ve gained from travelling, or the new ideas sparked by learning, these passions all fuel my drive to connect with and support others,” he said.
