As Victoria gears up for the long weekend, Christ Church Cathedral is inviting the community to join them in a contemplative Good Friday procession, a tradition observed by Anglican, Lutheran and Roman Catholic churches around the world.

The Way of the Cross will offer a prayerful opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Jesus on his journey to the crucifixion.

The procession, featuring a large wooden cross, will begin at 9 a.m. on April 18 from Pioneer Square at Quadra and Rockland.

Organized by parishioners of Christ Church Cathedral, the walk provides a moment for reflection on the significance of Good Friday.

The route will proceed from Pioneer Park along Quadra to Burdett and Humboldt, then north along Government to Johnson, east on Johnson to Quadra, before returning to Pioneer Square at approximately 10:15 a.m., allowing participants to attend services held in the cathedral at noon.

Throughout the procession, short scripture readings will be shared at designated stops. Participants are welcome to carry the cross, with changes in carriers occurring by request throughout the route.

The event is open to all who wish to participate, with individuals encouraged to join or leave the procession as they feel moved to do so.

The Way of the Cross offers a unique and reflective experience for those seeking to connect with the meaning of Good Friday.
