NHL veteran Tyson Barrie is returning to his hometown of Victoria this Saturday, Aug. 3, to host an intimate charity concert with special guest and Grammy winner Sarah McLachlan.
Joining McLachlan to perform at a private oceanfront estate in a Saanich neighbourhood, is Lumineers frontman Wesley Schultz, Dallas Green (known as City and Colour) and Nathaniel Rateliff. Top Victoria chefs, breweries and mixologists will also be at the event offering up gastronomic delights.
The current NHL free agent (previously with the Nashville Predators) has teamed up with philanthropy foundation Power to Give to host the event. He is hoping to raise $400,000 to support five local children’s sports-focused programs, including KidsSport - Greater Victoria and Victoria City Police Athletic Association.
“This night bridges two areas that I’m deeply passionate about – music, and helping children and youth discover a love of sport,” said Barrie in a press release. “We will be supporting five local charities who are all dedicated to helping children and youth discover their inner strength, confidence and resilience, through the power of playing sports.”
This is the second time that Tyson Barrie and Power to Give have partnered to give back. In 2022, they hosted a similar concert on the island, raising $750,000 for five charities supporting youth mental health.
There are only 225 tickets available, costing $2,500 per person. Tickets can be purchased online at: https://can.givergy.com/tysonbarrieandfriends.
