West Shore RCMP apprehended two male suspects on Aloha Drive in Colwood following a report of shoplifting from a Canadian Tire in Langford.
According to an officer at the scene, police were contacted by someone from Canadian Tire Loss Prevention shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday (March 30).
The two men allegedly “grabbed some stuff and took off” from the store.
Canadian Tire staff provided police with the license plate number of the suspect vehicle, enabling officers to track it down approximately an hour and a half later.
The vehicle, a grey GMC pick-up truck was located in a residential area on the 3300 block of Aloha Drive in Colwood, near the corner of Milburn Drive, a few kilometres from the Langford Canadian Tire location.
A Black Press Media reporter witnessed one man being handcuffed and the second suspect being questioned inside one of the cruisers.
The investigating officer indicated the outcome of the investigation, whether an arrest or release, would depend on the suspects' prior criminal records, or lack thereof.
Police did not provide information about the items taken from the store, including their value.
