The Victoria Shamrocks prevailed in an all-Island semifinal series in the junior A lacrosse playoffs.
The Victoria Shamrocks advanced to the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League finals after defeating the Nanaimo Timbermen 10-7 in Game 6 on Saturday, July 26, at Nanaimo's Frank Crane Arena. The 'Rocks won the series four games to two.
The series was tied two games apiece through four games before Victoria won Game 5 handily, 13-4, on Wednesday, July 23, at Bear Mountain Arena.
Game 6 was a much closer affair, as the game was tied 5-5 going into the third period before the visitors outscored the home team in the third.
Dylan Anderson and Ryan Lowe each scored twice for Victoria and Grayson Manning made 41 saves as shots were 48-43 in favour of Nanaimo. The T-men were led by Jared Maznik, who had two goals and two assists, and Jeremy Wudrick who also scored twice. Keegan Okino made 33 saves in defeat.
The Shamrocks advance to face the top-seeded Coquitlam Adanacs in the BCJALL finals. The series schedule hadn't been confirmed as of press time. The winner will advance to the Minto Cup in St. Catharines, Ont., in August.
