The Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League has named the coaches for the 2024-25 All-Star and Prospect Games which will be held in conjunction with the B.C. Hockey League All-Star and Prospect Games in Salmon Arm, Jan. 17 and Jan. 18.
Brad Knight of the Port Alberni Bombers will be the head coach for the North Division team, assisted by Troy Newans of the Campbell River Storm.
Tyler Stanton of the first-place Peninsula Panthers is the head coach for the South Division team, and his assistant will be Brian Passmore of the second-place Westshore Wolves.
“The All-Star and Prospect Game coaches earned their positions due to their standings within the division as of Nov. 26,” said VIJHL president Mark MacDonald. “Their teams have had great starts to the season, and we congratulate the coaches on doing such a fine job in putting their clubs in the top spots in the league.”
The VIJHL is excited to have its best players participate in All-Star and Prospect Games in conjunction with the BCHL for the first time.
“Scouts from every level of hockey will be at this event, and it’s a tremendous opportunity for our players to show them what they can do,” said MacDonald. “We are all about developing better hockey players and young men, and if they can catch someone’s eye and be offered a chance to play at a higher level in the future, that’s what this is all about.”
