A segment of regional trail in Saanich closed for hours after a body was found near the intersection of Ravine Way and Carey Road Thursday (May 25).
A person passing by the area found an unresponsive man at the Carey Road underpass and called police just before 8 a.m. Police confirmed the man was dead upon arriving.
Detectives with the major crimes unit confirmed the death is not considered suspicious.
“It’s difficult to say how long the body has been here,” said Const. Markus Anastasiades, spokesperson for Saanich Police Department.
A segment where the Galloping Goose and Lochside trails meet – between the Switch Bridge and Darwin Avenue – was closed as officers investigated. The trail reopened around 12:30 p.m. with police clearing the scene shortly after.
