I am sorry His Excellency was made to feel he needed to correct himself about referring to Canada’s indigenous people as immigrants when, in fact, he was not wrong. In every part of the planet, inhabitants are immigrants, except for Africa. Except for the diaspora that took place over time and adjustments to different conditions, all humans would still be black.
One theory is that the first inhabitants of North America walked from Asia over the Bering Strait, and this would appear to be confirmed by a study that showed the DNA of “indigenous” peoples of North America includes an Asian component. “First Nations” may be the accurate title after all.
