LETTER: A few rules for cyclists

web1_letterspenpaperc

In their proposal to Oak Bay, Capital Bike had a section stating what they wanted to see. How about what Oak Bay residents want to see?

Let’s start off simply by asking cyclists to follow the rules of the road, such as stopping at red lights and stop signs!

Secondly, it would help if groups of riders did not hog the lane or cyclists would stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. And how about lights at night?

Lastly, how about designing bike lanes that do not impede the movement of vehicles as is happening now, with closures and the removal of road lanes?

All of this is enforceable by the police but sadly it seems they don’t have enough personnel. So it must be policed by the cyclists themselves.

Good luck with that!
