If our airport authorities are similar to the U.S. ones, then they are the ones who collect the fees, not the company in charge of it. Whether they are from the U.S. or not is irrelevant, so put your elbows down and learn about the trade issue by not watching mainstream news. I guarantee you won't get angered, which is what they try to do.
Rates are up everywhere, and parking at the Victoria International Airport (YYJ) is still a better deal than many cities. The company in charge, along with the YYJ airport authority, cover the meter maintenance, cleaning, junk left in the lots, paving/line painting, gardening, drainage, and the shuttle buses that pick you up.
In the past, during Christmas holidays, Willingdon Road would be covered on both sides with free parking despite the signs saying otherwise. It was lost revenue for YYJ, and police were kind enough not to ticket or tow anyone. So if you want to get mad at YYJ, maybe bring up the cost and issue of when they built an extra runway out of sight from the tower, which is being moved to a new location. That's a little more costly, I assume.
