LETTER: Cars far more deadly than bicycles on Greater Victoria roads

Nobody driving a car has ever been killed in a collision with a bicycle

This is in regard to the recent letter on Greater Victoria cyclists not following the rules of the road.

While I agree that the laws of the road should apply to everyone equally, the laws of physics decree that a 3,000-pound vehicle has a far greater potential for murder and mayhem than a 20-pound bicycle.

In a time of limited policing budgets therefore it makes sense that law enforcement prioritize addressing the bad behaviour of motor vehicle drivers over the bad behaviour of bicyclists. Nobody driving a car has ever been killed in a collision with a bicycle, but the converse is all too common.
