I just wanted to put something in the paper to explain to people that do not realize that the taillights on their vehicles do not come on automatically as do the headlights. I feel the motor vehicle branch or manufacturers that designed this made a huge error.
After driving from up Island where it was raining, back to Sidney yesterday, we noticed that just about every car on the road did not have their lights turned on which then shows the taillights of a vehicle. People go out early in the morning, or drive home at dusk and while they have automatic headlights on, they do not have taillights. They do not even know that in many cases.
I wrote to the motor vehicle branch asking why the taillights did not come on automatically and was told people would complain because the taillights would burn out faster and have to be replaced.
Anyhow this is to let the people know about turning their headlights on in the morning and early evening and especially when it is foggy or rainy, or all the time. It really doesn’t cost anymore. Do it so people can see you better, and everyone on the road may just be a bit safer. One more thing – no cruise control when the roads are slippery, wet or frosty.
Stay safe all.
