Saanich News’ Our View piece regarding Hudson’s Bay left me very disappointed.
I can’t dispute any of the facts or your last paragraph stating, “the company’s presence, throughout Canada’s history and earlier, cannot be ignored.” However, that is exactly what Saanich News has done – not one reference to the Hudson’s Bay’s role in the genocide of Indigenous peoples and cultures.
I do not understand how this truth can be ignored – which is exactly what you have done – a disservice.
