Re: Dog-friendly society on hunt for more off-leash space in Greater Victoria.
In both on and off-leash dog areas in Greater Victoria, I've encountered numerous instances where dogs were not under control despite their owners' claims of good recall. Effective training is crucial before allowing dogs off-leash, yet too often, irresponsible owners disregard this necessity.
I believe reducing off-leash areas could actually benefit our community. It would ensure that public spaces remain safe and enjoyable for everyone, including those who may be afraid around unrestrained dogs and have concerns about safety. Enforcement of existing bylaws is essential to address the minority of dog owners who disregard regulations and compromise public safety.
It's time for our community to prioritize responsible dog ownership and enforce existing regulations to create a harmonious environment for all residents and visitors alike.
