LETTER: Large hedge poses hazard at Victoria intersection

I believe it's time to act now to mitigate future accidents at Fernwood and Johnson

Johnson Street at Fernwood Road.

Based on recent experiences, I believe it's time to act now to mitigate future accidents at Fernwood and Johnson.

Today while driving eastbound on Johnson, a black Honda in the north lane drove through the intersection totally oblivious to the red light.

This is a problematic intersection due to poor sight lines. The property on the northwest corner has a high hedge which blocks the view of drivers of the southbound lane of Fernwood. This hedge needs to be removed so drivers can see approaching vehicles on Johnson Street.

Thankfully this latest incident didn't result in an accident but it could have been far more serious. I believe in prevention and I am officially putting the city on notice of this dangerous situation and would like it to be addressed as soon as possible.
