Ellen Lewers expresses our frustration. Frustration and anger should not be aimed at the NDP. Get out and get informed before you vote on Oct. 19.

“Common sense” does not always see the big picture. The Conservatives want you to think you know more about public health than Bonnie Henry. Would you fire Bonnie Henry, as Rustad has said he will do?

A Conservative government will not solve the housing problem by leaving it to private enterprise. If private enterprise was the solution, we would not have the problems, since private enterprise has been doing housing for decades. Getting traffic off the Sooke Road will need jobs and services in Sooke and better public transportation between urban centres, not a new highway.

Just being angry and turning government over to a motley assembly of people who are also angry and ignorant will not solve problems that have been created by decades of favouring corporate economics. The prime directive for a business or corporation is to make a profit for shareholders. That is not a livelihood for employees or a fair deal for customers: only profit for shareholders. There is no community, only the marketplace.

The B.C. NDP has not created the problems we are facing. They are a party where creating a healthy environment where everyone is supported and can move forward is a priority. The NDP recognizes that human health depends on ecosystem health. The B.C. Liberals balanced their budgets by not investing in people, and their successors, the Conservatives, are ready to blame the current government for their past mistakes.
