LETTER: Rentals shouldn’t be able to prohibit pets

web1_letterspenpaperc

In response to the dire shortage of affordable housing in British Columbia, as elsewhere, let’s urge the provincial government to amend the Residential Tenancy Act so that landlords cannot prohibit pets. Ontario already has such a provision in section 14 of its Residential Tenancy Act.

Such a change would both increase housing options for humans and reduce the number of pets surrendered to animal shelters.
