Weed gardens disappoint

Do the residents of Saanichton pay their property taxes at a lower rate than the residents of Brentwood Bay?

Recently Central Saanich spent millions of dollars upgrading East Saanich Road south of Saanichton, including landscaping the boulevards.

Unfortunately, their vision of the future did not include maintaining the boulevards — unless the cultivation of weeds is a demonstration of the creative use of local plants.

Apart from the occasional splash of water on their weed gardens, the Saanichton boulevards are all but neglected by Central Saanich public works staff.

This is a stark contrast to the almost daily crawl through and maintenance of the boulevards in Brentwood.

Do the residents of Saanichton pay their property taxes at a lower rate than the residents of Brentwood Bay?

If level of service by the public works and municipal staff is a measure, they certainly should.
