Vancouver breaker Philip ‘Wizard’ Kim has won the first-ever gold medal for breaking in the Olympics.

Kim, also known as B-Boy Phil Wizard, took home the gold medal after battling France’s Danis ‘Dany Dann’ Civil in the final at the Paris Games on Saturday (Aug. 10). He won all three rounds.

Kim also beat Civil 2-0 in their first bout of the group stage.

The 27-year-old beat out Japan’s Shigeyuki ‘Shigekix’ Nakarai in the semifinals, scoring 3-0.

Victor Montalvo, of the United States, took home bronze.

Breaking, or break dancing, debuted at the 2024 Summer Games. However, it’s not on the list of events for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
