Canada beat Switzerland Wednesday as the excitement the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships hit Victoria. Canada won the first pre-tournament game 5-3.

Team Canada began its journey in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships with a pre-tournament game Wednesday in Victoria.
The team plays again Friday, facing Slovakia at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre at 5 p.m.

IIHF World Junior Championships games start Boxing Day with the U.S. facing Slovakia at 3 p.m. (local time) and Sweden facing Finland at 7 p.m. At Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Czech Republic faces Switzerland at 1 p.m. and Canada plays Denmark at 5 p.m.
Games run daily through the semi-finals Jan. 02 with the finals in Vancouver Jan. 4 and 5.
