Curling Club to host World Junior viewing parties

Call it the next best place to watch the upcoming World Junior hockey championship in Victoria and Vancouver.

With Hockey Canada’s blessing, the Victoria Curling Club will be converted into The Cabin, a free-to-all viewing party for World Junior tournament. The Quadra Street venue, next to Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, will boast a big screen and will accommodate those who don’t have tickets to the games and for those who want to watch it with a crowd.

The Cabin will host viewing parties for each Team Canada game and late-night entertainment as the city welcomes thousands of hockey fans from around the world Dec. 26 to Jan. 2.

Ahead of the tournament Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre is hosting two Team Canada exhibition matches, Dec. 19 and 21, and is then hosting daily games from Dec. 26 to 31, and the a pair of quarterfinals on Jan. 2.

There will be more than just a big screen in the The Cabin as the venue is licensed and will also have an interactive target shooting game, and fans are invited to take part in hitting targets for charity. Chevrolet’s also bringing it’s Good Deeds Cup to encourage local peewee hockey teams by writing a good deed idea on the pucks.

The Cabin is open:

· Wednesday, Dec. 26 2 p.m. – 1 a.m.

· Thursday, Dec. 27 2 p.m. – 1 a.m.

· Friday, Dec. 28 5 p.m. – 1 a.m.

· Saturday, Dec. 29 2 p.m. – 1 a.m.

· Sunday, Dec. 30 5 p.m. – 1 a.m.

· Monday, Dec. 31 2 p.m. – 1 a.m.

· Wednesday, Jan. 2 12 p.m. – 1 a.m.
