Just a couple days after claiming low amateur honours at the U.S. Open, Neal Shipley, along with many other golfers, is in Greater Victoria to play in a PGA Americas event.
In its inaugural season, the PGA Americas is the combination of PGA TOUR Latinoamerica and PGA TOUR Canada, giving golfers a path to the Korn Ferry Tour.
The Beachlands Victoria Open, takes place June 20 to 23 at Uplands Golf Club in Oak Bay. It's one of 16 events on the tour circuit.
The field features 75 players, including Shipley, who's coming off shooting 70-73-71-72 (+6) at the U.S. Open.
Fourteen Canadians are in the field.
Etienne Papineau was the 2023 champion of the event.
