It was all glitz, glam and gloves at the seventh annual Fight 4 The Cause charity boxing event on Saturday night.
Guests attended in black tie attire to watch amateur fighters step into the ring for the Victoria Event Centre’s largest event of the year.
Team members of the Blue Bombers competed against the Red Devils after completing eight weeks of intensive training at Studio 4 Athletics, all to raise money for four local charities: the Help Fill A Dream Foundation, Bridges for Women, the Brazilian Culture Club and the Esquimalt Fire and the Esquimalt Firefighters charitable division.
Early counts see that pledges for the fighters and the event’s silent auction raised over $25,000, but ticket sales still need to be accounted for.

“All in all it was a very successful event with record attendance and by all accounts everyone seemed to have a great time,” said Studio 4 Athletics co-owner and Fight 4 The Cause producer Kevin Brett. “We did have a couple of firsts this year: The blessings and participation of the Songhees Nation in a welcoming ceremony, the participation of the RCMP (vs. Esquimalt Fire Dept.) and the attendance of Langford Mayor Stew Young.”
The adrenaline-laced night saw each fighter give it their all in three rounds.
“There’s lot’s of action, and the calibre of the fights exceed my expectations by far, ” said Darcy Dommett, co-owner of Studio 4 Athletics and Fight 4 The Cause producer on the night of the fight.
While the year is over, Studio 4 will soon be looking for contenders for the 2019 event.
