The West Shore's junior football team has announced the hiring of a new head coach for the coming season after Mark Townsend decided to move forward with a new opportunity that "aligns with his coaching aspirations."
Former Westshore Rebels player and experienced coach Connor Bryan will be the new head coach for the Rebels' 2025 season after serving as the offensive line coach, recruiting coordinator, and run game coordinator.
“I’m incredibly honoured to be named head coach of the Westshore Rebels,” said Bryan in a news release. “This organization has been a huge part of my life, and I’m excited to continue its legacy of excellence. I look forward to working with our players, staff, and community to bring a championship to Westshore.”
Before playing for the Rebels, Bryan was an offensive lineman for the University of Calgary Dinos then played for the Rebels between 2014 and 2016 before moving onto Bishop's University in 2017. He joined the Rebels' coaching staff in 2022.
“We are thrilled to have Coach Bryan take the reins of our program,” said Rob Lervold, president and director of football operations, in a news release. “His experience as both a player and a coach within our organization, along with his deep understanding of our culture and goals, makes him the perfect leader to continue building our team’s success.”
