Second annual Sausage Fest
Oak Bay Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation sells sausages and fun in Willows Park Saturday, June 24 to raise funds for their many projects. This year they plan to give cash for a pair of bike fix stations and Monterey Middle School playspace.
U10 District finals
Ballplayers dominate the fields this time of year, including the young ones in Fireman’s Park all weekend.
Softball games start Friday in U10 title battle while the Tadpoles host a final at noon Saturday. Carnarvon kicks off play at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Upper Fireman’s against Langford. The local team returns to the field at noon Saturday to face Lakehill then at 4 p.m. take on Central Saanich.
Cyclists of all ages and levels are invited to take part in Victoria’s annual Ride Don’t Hide event June 25. The ride starts and finishes with celebration activities at Ogden Point. The unsupported ride has five different routes to choose from, it is suitable for riders of all ages and all skill levels. The event hopes to attract several hundred participants as it has previously, with 105 km, 51 km, 28 km, 18 km and 7 km legs.
Tea tasting in historic Chinatown. The event offers participants a chance to taste and learn more about Pu-erh’ tea and others that are featured in author Lisa See’s newest novel, The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. The novel incorporates the history of the Akha people in China, and Pu-erh’ tea farming and customs to tell a story about a family separated by circumstances, culture and distance.
Participants will also experience traditional methods of tea preparation.
The tasting takes place this Sunday (June 25) from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Silk Road Tea (1624 Government St.). Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Russell Books. For more information call 250-461-4447 or email events@russellbooks.com.
The fourth annual Cordova Bay Day
Events take place at four locations Saturday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.: St. David’s Church, Cordova Bay Plaza, Mattick’s Farm and Cordova Bay Golf Course. Each location will feature a variety of activities.
