From Friday’s community lunch to the three-day midway, the sun shone on Buccaneer Days in Esquimalt May 10 to 12.
Not a drop of rain fell on Saturday’s parade along Esquimalt Road from Dominion to Admirals and clear night skies dominated during evening music bingo.
The annual Buccaneer Days is traditionally well attended with more than 20 community organizations taking part.
The pirate-themed weekend has roots in the original May Queen celebration that started in 1939 in the township. That evolved into Esquimalt Days then in 1966 became Buccaneer Days.
