The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP is commending a local resident for their honesty in turning in an envelope filled with cash in Duncan.

On Aug. 29, a Good Samaritan found an envelope with an undisclosed amount of cash and turned it into the RCMP detachment.

There was no personal information on the envelope about who owned the cash.

“We always encourage people to do the right thing, and it was enlightening to see this Samaritan’s integrity,” said Const. Tessa McDonald, media relations officer at the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment.

“This shows that there are people looking out for each other in this community.”

The RCMP reminds the public that this found property is being held at the local detachment and efforts will be made to return it to the rightful owner.

If you believe this cash belongs to you, you will need to provide the amount, bill denominations, and approximately where it was found, to claim it.

Call the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or attend the detachment.
