A group of 40 paddlers from the Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club will complete a 75-kilometre relay paddle on April 5, raising funds for Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan.
The annual Paddle for the Kids event aims to raise $15,000 to support the camp, which provides programs for children, youth and adults with disabilities. Since its inception 44 years ago, the fundraiser has brought in more than $425,000.
Paddlers, ranging in age from 20 to 90, will start at sunrise on the Saanich Peninsula and make their way to Victoria Harbour before finishing at the club’s Gorge Road West location.
Supporters can watch from West Song Way or Tillicum Bridge. Donations can be made through the Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club or Easter Seals BC & Yukon.
