The 21st Victoria Women’s Expo is coming to Pearkes Recreation Centre on March 2 and 3!

Are you looking to connect with other like-minded women? Do you want to learn a new skill? Are you looking for the perfect gift for that special someone for Mother’s Day, Easter, or a birthday?

Featuring over 100 exhibitors, the exposition features a variety of booths targeted to women of all ages.

But show producer Virginia Ritchie says everyone is welcome, not just women.

“We want everyone to come,” she said. “We see a lot of men at our show, I think more than any women’s show and I’ve been to many.”

At the show, you’ll get to see women from all walks of life and find a wealth of resources whether that be for products, skills, health issues, fitness, hormone balancing, beauty demos, and fashion.

This year, Ritchie said there is a big focus on checking out different careers. Camosun College, women in trades, the military (air, sea and ground), RCMP, fitness and yoga instructors, paddle boarders and more will all be there to answer questions and inspire.

There will also be samples and food on site. “Let me just say Julie’s Delights Chocolates will be doing a stage presentation, Country Crepes, if you like crepes. And how could I forget? Merlot gummies,” Ritchie said.

“Lots of yummy food, yes there’s shopping, there’s some educational seminars … you’re going to walk away with some information for sure and you’re going to have a lot of fun.”

And if you’re coming with kids, don’t worry because there will be a kids’ play area with colouring face painting, and a kids’ contest.

The exposition at 3100 Tillicum Road runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Admission is $5, cash only at the door. Be one of the first 100 people through the door on Saturday and Sunday to receive a free swag bag!

South Island SUP/Mer Tales Ocean Journeys: Discover Victoria’s premier mobile stand-up paddleboard experience

Since 2012, South Island SUP has been pioneering Victoria’s SUP scene, starting with just a mountain bike and three stand up paddleboards. Now, with a Mercedes van, we continue our journey while staying true to our eco-conscious roots. By offering convenient ‘staycations’, you can walk, bike, run or carpool to the beach, and we’ll bring our high quality boards, paddling gear and adventure to you!

To offer even more special paddling adventures, South Island SUP collaborates closely with Mer Tales Ocean Journeys. Founded and led by Gina Lemieux, a professional marine biologist, Mer Tales provides a diversity of offerings to connect you with the ocean for inspired living. Her early morning tour, “Women on the Water” is a sunrise meditative experience. In the tranquil ocean environment, you can connect with nature and find a moment of peace before you go about your day.

Mer Tales’ memorable paddleboarding journeys on the ocean don’t end there. Connect with the powerful beauty of the ocean through the marine ecological tour, try a paddle and snorkel to discover the biological wonders that lie beneath the waters or join a spa-like, peaceful kelp float experience. You can also celebrate the full moon from the incredible vantage point of your paddleboard on the Mer Tales’ “Moon Ceremony”.

For those who want to go on an untethered adventure, experience the convenience of beachside drop-off and pick-up rentals, or opt to take our boards to your favourite spot. South Island SUP offers rental drop off at Gonzales Bay and Willows Beach, and guided tours at many locations on southern Vancouver Island including Thetis Lake. We offer personalized lessons tailored to your skill level as well as local and regional single or multi-day tours where you can explore secret beaches or experience the magic of bioluminescence.

Embark on your next adventure with South Island SUP and Mer Tales Ocean Journeys—where every paddle promises excitement, connection, and unparalleled beauty. We look forward to meeting you at the Women’s Expo!

Experience weightlessness at Float House

Life can get heavy, and sometimes we all need a little weight taken off our shoulders.

What we often don’t realize is how much stress builds up from the constant demands of life, the deadlines, and the stimulation, both from technology, and the demands our bodies and minds take on from everyday life.

In a float tank, external stimuli is completely removed, creating the perfect condition for profound relaxation and a deep meditative state. Your pulse calms, your body awareness is heightened, and it becomes easier to visualize. It’s easier to enter a state of consciousness called theta, normally only experienced just before sleep or in a deep meditation. This is all achieved due to the tank’s sensory deprivation environment. Your vision is restricted to pitch black, there are no external sounds, the water is temperature regulated to be barely noticeable, and you are completely safe and buoyant thanks to 1200 pounds of dissolved Epsom salt in the water.

The benefits of float therapy are many. These include stress and chronic pain reduction, help with anxiety and depression, and athletic recovery. Floatation therapy has also been found to improve sleep quality, relieve migraines and promote muscle relaxation. Additionally, since Epsom salts are high in magnesium, they can aid in removing harmful substances such as free radicals from your body.

At Float House, located in Victoria and the Westshore, the spa environment fosters an optimal, calming experience. The float tanks are very spacious and the lid is very easy to open at any time. There are also two buttons close at hand within the tank for those who want optional music or to turn on gentle, coloured lights. The healing benefits can be enhanced by tagging on a massage at Float House either before or after the float or enjoying our rest area with complimentary tea.

Jade Clinics: Discover the joy of beautiful skin and living hair-free

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could say goodbye to unwanted hair – forever?

For those who suffer from unwanted hair growth, permanent hair removal is the holy grail of cosmetics. Dozens of treatments, from hair removal creams to waxing to laser therapy, claim long-lasting results. However, only electrolysis can offer permanent removal of those annoying and time-consuming hairs. (DYK women with facial hair spend on average 104 minutes a week managing it, according to a 2006 British study?)

At Jade Clinics, we offer Electrolysis, a procedure that involves the insertion of a tiny needle, usually thinner than your hair, into your skin. A current passes through the needle, damaging the nearby follicle. This procedure is far more effective at permanently getting rid of hairs than laser therapy, as it is specific enough to attack individual follicles efficiently.

Founder Jennifer Desloges empathizes deeply with anyone struggling with unwanted body hair. As a teenager, she suffered deep embarrassment from thick body hair, including a beard. Jennifer had PCOS, a medical condition shared by an estimated five million women in North America. Her almost decade-long struggle led her to become an electrologist and gave her a deep appreciation for the joyful freedom that it gave her. Jade Clinics was born so that she could give the same hope to countless others.

Top quality services

Apart from electrolysis hair removal, Jade Clinics also offers skin rejuvenation. Come to our booth to learn more about AviClear, an acne treatment that changes the oil glands to produce less oil and shows long-term permanent results. For glowing skin, we specialize in Secret RF, a novel fractional RF microneedling system designed to stimulate and remodel collagen. We also can use Electrocautery to remove unwanted skin lesions and spider veins for a brighter and healthier-looking complexion.
