An updated evacuation alert for 190 parcels has been issued in the Nazko area due to the Snaking River Fire.

The Cariboo Regional District and Nazko First Nation have issued an evacuation alert for 190 parcels in the Nazko area due to the Snaking River Wildfire 65 km west of Quesnel.

This expanded alert is replacing the Snaking River Fire Alert issued by the CRD on Friday, Aug. 1 at 10:30 a.m. for 71 parcels.

Because of potential danger to life and health, said the alert notice, the evacuation alert has been issued for the area outlined on the map provided.

Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, however, limited notice could be given due to changing conditions.

People within the alert area are encouraged to have a plan to transport all family members or co-workers outside the area, should the area be given an evacuation order.

Residents are also encouraged to register for the Cariboo Chilcotin Emergency Notification System to receive a test, call or email regarding evacuation alerts and orders.

On Sunday, the Snaking River Wildfire is estimated to have grown to 1,168 hectares.
