BC Transit and the Victoria Regional Transit Commission say there are some “big changes” coming to the local transit system, effective Jan. 8, 2024.

“Following feedback from the public,” said a news release, BC Transit will be reinstating Route 11 Tillicum Centre/UVic’s routing that was in place before June 2022, and service frequency on this route will be adjusted.

As well, Route 95 Langford/Downtown RAPIDBUS will now serve the bus stops on Goldstream Avenue at Veterans Memorial Parkway, said a release.

“This service change also includes a major restructure of the West Shore Transit Network,” said BC Transit.

“To better align our service with rapidly increasing development and customer demands,” changes are being made to the following routes:

• 39 Westhills/Interurban/Royal Oak/UVic

• 52 Colwood Exchange/Bear Mountain

• 54 Metchosin

• 55 Happy Valley

• 56 Thetis Heights/Langford Exchange

• 57 Thetis Heights/Langford Exchange

• 58 Goldstream Meadows

• 59 Triangle Mountain

• 60 Wishart

As part of this restructuring, Route 39 Westhills/Interurban/Royal Oak/UVic will now provide service into the Royal Roads University campus.

Route 52 Colwood Exchange/Bear Mountain is being re-routed to help serve the rapidly growing neighbourhoods of Happy Valley, Latoria, and Royal Bay. This route will still service the Royal Roads University campus during weekday peak times.

Service to Thetis Heights is being restructured with routes 56 and 57 being combined into a new route 57 with more service to McCallum Road.

The new Route 49 Langford Exchange/Skirt Mountain will offer service to new developments on Skirt Mountain and maintain coverage along Setchfield Avenue and Treanor Avenue that was previously served by route 56.
