For many, Easter marks a time to enjoy a warm, hearty meal with good company, and Our Place Society wants to ensure Greater Victoria's most vulnerable also get that memorable experience.

On April 15 at noon, the non-profit, which provides community services to vulnerable people in Greater Victoria, will open its building at 919 Pandora Ave. to 600 guests. With the help of the Easter Bunny, volunteers, local political and media figures, they'll be met with heaping plates of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and vegetables – all topped with rich gravy. Guests will also enjoy a special Easter treat for dessert, courtesy of Rogers’ Chocolates.

“While the world around us may feel increasingly unstable, we work hard to ensure that Our Place remains a constant – somewhere people can count on a hot meal, a warm shower and a sense of belonging,” the organization's director of philanthropy Janice Kalin said in a news release. “We’re celebrating the power of community and the strength that comes from compassion.”

Our Place doesn't just serve food on special occasions – year-round, it dishes out more than 1,400 nourishing meals, seven days per week. It also aims to be a place of refuge and hope for Victoria's community members who are "looking for a pathway towards stability," the organization said.
