This weekend, put on your festival clothes because Canada Dry Dragon Boat Festival returns to the Inner Harbour.
Since its debut in 1994, this festival has always been such a delight to attend, with everything from interactive art to cultural displays.
This year’s festival is going to be extra special because it’s introducing a new temporary exhibit at the Victoria Chinatown Museum called Dragons on the Coast: Victoria's Dragon Boat Story.
The exhibit, running from Aug. 8 to Sept. 7, features one of the original Expo 86 teak dragon boat heads used to start dragon boat in Victoria at the 1994 Commonwealth Games. A paddle used at the 1994 games will also be on display.
The exhibit invites patrons to uncover the story behind the festival as well as information about the history of dragon boats themselves.
Other objects showcased at the exhibit include a range of archival materials, original equipment and medals from the last 30 years.
In addition to the new museum exhibit, the festival site itself will take place at 900 Wharf St. on Saturday from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.
This part of the festival will feature mind blowing traditional Chinese performances, spectacular lion dances by the Wong Sheung Kung Fu Club, and more.
Check out the Harbour Air’s fantastic air show or have a nice visit and photo op with Turbo the Otter. Enjoy gourmet food from the various food trucks located in the area.
