The Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame announced their class of 2024, who will be inducted on Oct. 26.

The Greater Victoria Sports Hall Of Fame has announced eight new inductees for 2024, including Liz Ashton, a two-time equestrian Olympian, and longtime sports radio broadcaster Cliff LeQuesne.

“The Greater Victoria community has a rich sporting history and so many outstanding athletes, coaches, officials and builders,” said Chris Graham, chair of the Induction Nominations Committee.

The inductees are split into categories and include four athletes, three 'builders' and one media personality.

This year, the four athletes set to be inducted are: former CFL player Brian Ramsay, swimmer Harry Caldwell, fastball player Dennis Eckert, and rugby player Ed Fairhurst. The builders are Ashton, Kelly Mann, and Dick Midgley while the media personality is LeQuesne.

Inductees will be honoured at a dinner on Oct. 26 and will take their place on the hall of fame display at Victoria's Save-on-Foods Arena.

“I look forward to celebrating their accomplishments in late October with their many friends and family members as well as our community and supporters," said Doug Jennings, president of the hall's Board of Directors.
