Victoria-born Brody Lindal, 18, has been "turning heads" in the Australia Ice Hockey League after a four-goal game on June 15.
Playing his rookie year with the Sydney Bears, Lindal is second in the league for goal-scoring, and fourth for points with 19 goals and 13 assists over 21 games.
“I really enjoy playing down under. It is tough competition against bigger guys, current pro’s, ex-NHL players and I am learning a lot and getting better. I hope I can get back to BC to play two more years of junior," he said in a news release.
Lindal started playing for Sooke Minor Hockey league and moved up to the Burnaby Winter Club where he was "a key part" of the club's Canadian Sport School Hockey League championship according to the release.
The Australian league finishes in mid-August, and the Bears, who are currently top of the league, are looking to win the Goodall Cup, one of the longest running awarded cups in Hockey dating back to 1911.
Lindal is hoping to return to B.C. to play in the BCHL next season as he continues his goals to play NCAA, then a pro career in Europe.
