I’ve had a thought on the looming shortage of doctors and other health-care workers I thought I’d share. I understand there are many current immigrants in Canada that have medical degrees in their home countries that are not recognized in Canada, so they are taking other jobs instead of practising here.

Reflecting on some recent events, I’ve concluded that there may just be a paradigm shift to more diversity and inclusion for South Asians on the South Island.

While few residents have contributed to the city’s reconciliation contribution fund, that doesn’t reflect on the public support for reconciliation efforts.

Clearly, letter writers Denise and Yolanda Corbett have learned nothing over the past two years from Dr. Henry’s ‘be kind’ mantra. Either they toned down their letter to the Peninsula News Review, or you wisely chose not to publish the part that was in their letter to the Times Colonist calling the homeless ‘bums’.

In response to Mr. Greave’s letter of June 29, I agree that some increase in housing density in Cadboro Bay may be needed to improve the diversity of housing options, however, I strongly disagree with his characterization of Saanich Planning’s recently proposed options to expand the village core as “moderate.”

I was reading Mary Hogan’s letter about cars with rolled-up windows, using AC, and I had to laugh. Clearly Ms. Hogan does not suffer allergies, have issues with exhaust, and has no problem with noise. She also clearly doesn’t have a kid in the back seat screaming about the wind in his face. Or a dog trying to jump out.
