Pacific FC has re-signed club captain and forward Josh Heard.

Pacific FC fan favourite Josh Heard will be returning for his sixth season with the club.

The club captain and forward has signed a two-year contract which will keep him at the Langford-based team through to 2026.

He will lead the team onto the pitch for the upcoming Canadian Premier League season (CPL), where the club hopes to improve on its 2024 performance, which saw them miss out on a quarter-final spot in the CPL playoffs, losing to York United.

“This is my home and is where I wanted to be,” said Heard, who was raised in Victoria after he was born in Wales, in a news release. “There’s no other place in Canada that I would want to play football.”

Last season, Heard made 18 appearances for the Tridents, logging 1,137 minutes on the pitch.

A knee injury in August kept him out of play for several matches, but Heard recovered in time to add firepower to Pacific’s attack in the season's final matches.

He scored two goals for the Tridents in 2024, including one in Pacific’s quarter-final win over Atletico Ottawa in the Telus Canadian Championship.

“Josh is an important player in our team,” said James Merriman, head coach. “He gives everything in each match and every time he puts on the jersey, he plays with his heart on his sleeve. He is growing all the time in his leadership role as captain and continues to challenge the daily environment.”
