On June 17, Saanich council approved the Doral Forest Park 11-storey, 242-unit condominium project located on Elk Lake Drive on the boundary of Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park. The application is so out of touch with the community values and out of place in its location that it makes one wonder how it could possibly be approved.

Thank you Lesley Ewing. I’m glad another North Oak Bayer raised concerns about our beloved Carnarvon Park.

So here we are in the Big Heat — when many of us lament the loss of our temperate climate. It’s a bit sickening. And it can only get worse because not enough is being done to stop the climate change gradually oppressing the Earth.

I write to take issue with Murray Rankin’s recent column Working to protect ancient forests. His column repeats misleading NDP tropes and misinformation.

Saanich council’s recent 7-2 decision to allow an 11-storey, 242-unit condo project at the edge of Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park at the projected cost of 55 mature trees, clearly tasks the credulity of Saanich’s electorate with some pretty outstanding double-think.

John Harris of Esquimalt wonders if we, as a nation, are up to the hard slog to build a true history, and make for real reconciliation. I must agree with him.

I’m writing to bring awareness about the poor condition of our local gem that is Elk Lake Regional Park.

Don Enright raises some excellent points in his letter in the June 3 Peninsula News Review regarding the hard-line push to drive development in Deep Cove.

A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers at the Mary Winspear vaccination site.

A letter writer said that, while trying to cycle from the Harbour Road bike path to the south side of the Johnson Street Bridge, she found herself in oncoming traffic when the bike lane abruptly ended. I have no idea what she is talking about.
